Reality

I stood outside
unearthed
rearranged
I had a time
like no other
Die fast, live young
was the way of the world
Undermined by
twisting insecurities
I waxed my brain
of all the crap
taking a leap a dive
into a whirlpool of excess
The fish in the fishbowl
were speaking
in only a language
that I could understand
Stay out of trouble Stay
right where you are
Immersed by laughter
that racked the bars
of my prisoncell
So stunted by desire
A fire burned in my eyes
It was a wily reality
Sifting through universal truths
the floor beneath my
lazy, staggering gait
rocked too fast
that I stumbled and fell
Frankenstein’s Monster
was the most honest being
I had become
I laughed the night away
Danced till the day crashed
like two comets colliding
into the sun
I burned my way
through a riveting existence
whittling a place
with a knife for a friend
Bending social nuances with
a tire iron
as I hit reality in the face
